Care Instructions
CARE INSTRUCTIONS TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCT
Rilu bags are timeless pieces crafted with a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and care. Each model is designed not only to be aesthetically refined but also to offer lasting durability. Proper care is essential to help your elegant companion retain its original appearance for years to come.
All materials used are natural and of the highest quality. As a result, each product is inherently unique. Variations in tone or surface texture are natural characteristics and contribute to the individuality of every Rilu piece.
To help maintain the shape, surface, and colour of your product, we recommend the following:
- Keep the product away from environmental factors such as direct sunlight, heat sources, and high humidity.
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, creams, makeup, and sanitizers or any chemical-based products.
- Exposure to water, salt, oil, alcohol, or abrasive substances may cause irreversible damage to natural materials.
- Prolonged contact with colour-transferring fabrics or surfaces may leave unwanted marks on leather.
- Do not use any cleaning agents — scratches or abrasions that may result from improper cleaning are irreversible.
- When not in use, store your bag in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, ideally upright in its dust bag.
- To help preserve its shape, you may insert soft filling and tuck in any straps or chains to avoid pressure on the outer surface.
- Make sure all closures and fastenings are properly closed during storage to maintain the bag’s natural structure.
The metal hardware used in Rilu bags may react over time to environmental elements. Contact with moisture, perfume, alcohol, or cosmetic products may cause the surface to dull or discolour. To protect these details, we recommend wrapping them in a soft cloth or placing them inside the bag during storage.
With proper storage and regular care, your Rilu piece will remain by your side as beautifully as the day you met.
MATERIAL-SPECIFIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Calf Leather
The calf and cowhide leathers used at Rilu are carefully selected for their soft texture and refined surface. As a natural material, visible veins or slight creases may be present. Contact with cosmetic products, oils, perfumes, or sanitizers can damage the appearance and performance of the leather. For light surface marks, we recommend gently wiping with a soft, damp cloth and plain water. Please avoid using any cleaning products.
Patent Calf Leather
Patent calf leather, with its glossy finish, is especially prone to colour transfer—particularly when lighter shades come into contact with dark clothing. This surface is also sensitive to scratching. Cleaning agents should not be used; instead, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth only.
Suede and Nubuck
As these aniline leathers do not have a protective coating, suede and nubuck are highly absorbent and vulnerable to staining. If exposed to moisture, any excess should be blotted immediately with a dry cloth. Due to the delicate nature of the material, we recommend avoiding contact with light-coloured garments and considering the use of a protective spray when necessary.
Metallic and Printed Finishes
These surfaces feature a delicate top coating and may wear over time with friction. Particularly smooth or shiny finishes may show creases or scratches. To clean, use a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow the surface to air dry away from direct heat. Avoid solvents or alcohol-based products, as they can strip the surface finish.
